Toddler Storage Unit for toys and crafts

We often get asked for storage solutions for kiddies rooms. Children accumulate an abnormally large amount of toys and there never seems to be enough space to store them. Our toy chests are popular, but we felt a piece of furniture that is easier for kiddies to use and more functional would be better.

We've designed this useful kiddies storage unit to fit into childrens bedrooms and playrooms. It has four small drawers and 2 large drawers on runners. This makes the storage unit convenient for separating out different toys. Lego in one drawer, puzzles in another. The top of the storage unit can also be used as a table surface or painted with chalkboard paint for an arts and crafts station.

Toddler Steps / Kiddies Steps

It must be so frustrating being a toddler, they are discovering a whole new world, but almost everything is taking place above eye level.

Toddlers are forever stretching or climbing things to reach or see what is going on. Toddlers love to see what mum is doing on the kitchen counter, or to wash their hands in a basin, or to grab a book of a shelf. Unfortunately most toddlers have to resort to climbing shelves or drawers or anything else available to reach what they are after, not only is this dangerous, it also puts a limit on their exploration of their new world.

We made some toddler steps for our little daughter, and she loves them. The steps get moved from her bedroom, to the bathroom to brush her teeth, to the kitchen to watch mum cook, to the fridge to grab a snack, to the sink to wash her hands. In fact, these kiddy steps may be the one item she uses more than anything else in our home.

Toddler Beds & Day Beds

We got our hands on some beautiful teak beds that had been brought to Cape Town by an italian family. They had been painted in a beautiful shade of green and were obviously very old.

We spent some time restoring it and now we have one left to sell.

Baby Cot Mattress sizes in South Africa

Finding information on cot mattresses in South Africa has been a challenge for us and for many other new parents. We have searched high and low for standard cot mattress sizes, but every country seems to have their own system for sizing cot mattresses, and as South Africa imports most of its baby furniture, the cots seem to come in all sorts of sizes.

At Little Legends, we have designed our Vintage Cot a similar size to the old vintage cots from decades ago. These take a standard cot mattress of the following proportions: 1180 X 560mm

Nursing Chair for new mothers

Your newborn baby will be fed up to 9 times per day depending on your schedule, so in your first few months, a comfortable nursing chair will be very important. After each feed, you will probably want to put your newborn baby straight to sleep, and so it is very useful to have a nursing chair that has a rocking mechanism.

The other consideration for your nursing chair is that it will probably be used for some late night feeds, and for comforting a baby that is struggling to go to sleep. For that purpose you want a nursing chair that is comfortable for both parents to sit in, and yes, occasionally for both parents to sleep in.
